Last Minute Fundraising Tips

Fundraising Success with the Event Less Than One Month Away!

With the Overnight Walk happening in less than one month’s time, we are busy helping all of our Walkers reach their fundraising goals and have put together some tips below for any Walker that needs a bit of a boost or is just starting out their fundraising campaign.

If you have only recently registered or are still working toward your fundraising requirement amount - don’t worry, you are not too late!

Most of our Walkers are able to reach their fundraising requirement amount within 3-4 weeks after launching a solid campaign under normal circumstances, and are able to accelerate that quickly as the event draws nearer. With just a few weeks to go until the event, it’s the perfect time to reach out to your fundraising supporters and ask them to help you hit your goal.

Kickstart Your Fundraising

The Overnight Walk will take place on June 1-2, just a few weeks from now, and your supporters will generally be glad to help you reach your goal – especially if you keep them up to date on your progress and share that goal and your timeline. Below you will find a few tips to help bring them into your fundraising journey and enlist their help in getting to and past your goal.

Attend a Fundraising Workshop: We have Fundraising Workshops available often in-person in the Washington DC area, over the phone with a Walker Coach and fellow Walkers, or on-demand on the web.

Share your target goals: Share your goals with your supporters and let them know what your timeline and goal
is overall. We have sample social media posts and email templates to help you do just this.

Break it down: Break your larger goal into pieces and ask for help in getting to each milestone along the way. Posts and emails like “I’m trying to get to $400 by this Friday” will help engage your supporters and help you get to your goal piece by piece.

Plan your campaign: Set up a calendar and plan out your email and social media campaign. Planning out who you will contact and setting a schedule will make it simpler for you to keep track of everything.

Ask again: Ask those that haven’t responded to your email blasts and politely remind them of your upcoming weekly goals.

Ask for help: Ask your supporters for help spreading your message and the link to your fundraising page to all of their friends. Many Walkers receive a significant amount of donations from friends-of-friends.

Use these ideas and any of the others from our Fundraising Tips section to get your fundraising going and you will be well on your way to your goal sooner than you think!
