Upcoming Overnight Events

The 2013 Overnight Season is Here and We Have Special Events Coming Up Soon!

The 2013 Washington, DC Overnight Walk season is under way and we have Walkers registered from across the country. We are looking forward to another great season and an amazing event in our nation’s capitol this coming June and have several exciting events planned in the next few months.

Be a part of the Overnight Community and join us for the Kick Off Event, one of the Preview and Training Days, or any of the Training Walks that will be taking place around the country in your local communities. These events are a great way to get connected with other Walkers and Crew Members while you learn all of the details of this exciting event.

Upcoming Events in the Washington DC Area:

  • The Overnight Walk Kick Off EventMarch, 2013: Washington, DC - Join us for this great kick off to the 2013 Overnight Walk season, meet fellow Walkers, meet your Walker Coach and the Overnight Staff, and much more! We will announce the date and location of the Kick Off Event very soon.
  • Preview and Training DayApril, 2013: Washington, DC - Join fellow Walkers and your Walker Coaches as we take a training walk in our host city. This is a great chance to be a part of a longer training walk, to meet and connect with other Walkers, and walk with Overnight Staff.
  • Training Walks March-May, 2013: Nationwide - These walks are scheduled around the country and are led by Walkers in their local communities. These walks are a great way to meet fellow walkers from your area and to start training with training groups or partners so that you will be better equipped to enjoy the Overnight Walk on the night of the event. If you would like to see the scheduled walks, click here and check back throughout the season, and if you would like to start a walk in your area, just let us know at coaches@theovernight.org and we’ll help.

Want to Help with the Overnight Walk?

The Overnight Walk relies heavily on the support of Volunteers each season, and every year we have a great group of dedicated Volunteers that help us with everything from packet and mailing distribution to publicity in and around the host city to advance route marking and flyering along the route.

If you would like to learn more about Volunteer opportunities in advance of the event or on-event, please let us know here and be sure to take a look at the list of Volunteer activities below for some specific ideas.

  • Volunteer Nights at the Overnight Offices (New York City) – Help the Overnight Staff package and send out registration materials and mailings, help with specific activities in the office, and more.
  • Help Spread the Word (Washington, DC Area) – Contact our Volunteer Coordinator and help us get the word out in the Washington DC area.
  • Route Flyering Teams (Washington, DC Area) – The week of the event itself we will get together small teams of Volunteers to canvas the route and let residents and businesses know that we are coming.
  • On-Event Volunteers (Washington, DC) – We will have volunteers in a wide variety of roles at the Ceremony Site over the course of the event and if you would like to help for one shift or the whole event we would love to have you on board. Sign Up here to Volunteer on-event.

As always, if you have any questions at all or need help with anything from registration to technical support, please contact your Walker Coach or get in touch with your Overnight Staff at 888-THE-OVERNIGHT (888-843-6837) or at coaches@theovernight.org.
